  • Hannah Guan

    CO-PRESIDENT

    Hannah is a junior in Winthrop House studying Applied Math in Economics and Computer Science. She has previously conducted research in the field of computational biology, and her economic interests lie in the realm of education and AI policy. In her free time, you can find her getting boba at Ten One or in the New York Times Games section.

  • Evan Huang

    CO-PRESIDENT

    Evan is a junior in Winthrop House from Dallas, Texas studying economics. He is interested in urban economics and behavioral finance, and has previously conducted research in both fields. In his free time, he enjoys reading mystery novels and playing tennis.

  • Rohan Nambiar

    CO-DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

    Rohan is a junior from Cincinnati, Ohio planning to study Mathematics and Economics. Outside of CREL, he is involved in other economic research at Harvard and enjoys exploring new concepts in everything from finance to physics. In his free time, he enjoys baking, taking his dog for walks, listening to music, and playing board games.

  • Kaitlyn Ernst

    CO-DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

    Kaitlyn Ernst is a sophomore at Harvard College living in Lowell House! She is originally from Cleveland, Ohio. She plans on studying Applied Mathematics and Economics and is fascinated by the intersection of statistical analysis, computational problem-solving, and economic decision-making. In her spare time, you can find her rewatching her favorite '90s romcoms, running along the Charles River, and overpaying at local coffee shops.

  • Stefan Nicov

    CO-DIRECTOR OF RESEARCH

    Stefan is an international student from Republic of Moldova studying Statistics and Economics with an interest in causal empirical methods and conformal predictions, and a passion for sunsets and generative art.

  • Hana Boulware

    CO-DIRECTOR OF RESEARCH

    Hana is a junior in Winthrop House studying Math and Economics. In her free time, Hana enjoys choreographing for AADT and ice dance.

  • Grace Yang

    CO-DIRECTOR OF RESEARCH

    Grace is a junior at Harvard studying Statistics and Economics. She is interested in using data analytics and quantitative tools to better understand complex, real-world problems. Outside of school, she enjoys running and playing pickleball.

  • Sophia Lichterfeld

    CO-DIRECTOR OF RESEARCH

    Sophia is a sophomore at Harvard College studying Applied Math with a focus in Economics and a secondary in Global Health and Health Policy. She is originally from Massachusetts. Outside of CREL, she plays violin in Harvard MIHNUET, a chamber group that performs at nursing homes and hospitals, writes for the Science and Technology section of the Harvard Political Review, and is involved in policy research through the Institute of Politics. In her free time, she enjoys going on runs along the Charles river and trying out new cafes with friends.

  • Michael Wang

    CO-DIRECTOR OF RESEARCH

    Michael is a sophomore at the College studying Economics and Mathematics, and enjoys playing tennis and dancing in his free time.

  • Garvin Kim

    PROJECT LEAD

    Garvin is a sophomore from Seoul, South Korea studying Applied Mathematics/Economics with a secondary in Film/Video. She is interested in how data can be used to solve economic problems, specifically in education and development. On campus, she is involved in dance groups and in various productions as a videographer.

  • Akilan Sankaran

    PROJECT LEAD

    Akilan is a freshman studying Chemistry/Physics and Mathematics, with a secondary in Economics; he is originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico. Akilan’s research centers on multi-scale computational research of materials and chemical processes, and his economic interests currently lie in AI, trade, labor, and health economics. In his free time, you can find Akilan on a run on the Charles or tackling some Chopin on the piano.

  • Tianhao Wu

    PROJECT LEAD

    Tianhao is a junior in Dudley and a visiting undergraduate from the London School of Economics. He is broadly interested in development economics, macroeconomics, political economy, and international economics, with a regional focus on China and East Asia. In his free time, Tianhao enjoys skiing and hiking.

    Elias Tamer is a sophomore in Cabot House studying Applied Mathematics and Economics with a secondary in Philosophy. He is from Lexington, Massachusetts. In his free time he enjoys hiking and listening to rock music.

  • Shivant Krishnan

    CO-FOUNDER AND PRESIDENT

    Shivant is a fourth-year and concurrent MA student in Economics at the University of Chicago, and a co-founder of the Chicago chapter of CREL. He has developed a strong research background through various roles in academia, consulting, and the public sector. His MA thesis will focus on the recent quality shift in US job applicants as a result of artificial intelligence and the softening of the labor market for “knowledge workers.” In his free time, he enjoys reading biographies, photography, premier league football, and poker. 

  • Brayant De Leon

    CO-FOUNDER AND PRESIDENT

    Brayant is a fourth-year and concurrent Master’s student studying economics and applied math at the University of Chicago. He is co-founder of the Chicago chapter of CREL. His past research experiences include working for the Joint Initiative for Latin American Experimental Economics, Harris School of Public Policy, and Becker Friedman Institute for Economics. He is interested in applied econometrics with emphasis on the economics of education and social inequality. Apart from research, Brayant enjoys rock climbing and going to metal concerts.

  • Utkarsh Dandanayak

    PROJECT LEAD

    Utkarsh is a fourth-year at the University of Chicago studying Economics. He is predominantly interested in experimental and development economics. His research experience includes research assistantships at the Development Innovation Lab, the Normal Lab, and the Becker Friedman Institute for Economics. He also enjoys reading, playing the drums, and watching sports.

  • Ria Dhillon

    PROJECT LEAD

    Ria is a third-year at the University of Chicago from San Francisco, California studying economics and data science. She has worked as a research assistant for the Roman Family Center for Decision Research at the Booth School of Business. In her free time, she enjoys trying new restaurants, attending concerts, and watching college basketball.

  • Sasha (Aleksandr) Popov

    PROJECT LEAD

    Aleksandr is a third year at the University of Chicago studying Economics and Mathematics, with a minor in Computer Science. His past experiences range from algorithmic trading research to working in a VC fund and founding his own startup. His research interests include development economics and monetary policy. Outside of CREL, Aleksandr enjoys mountain climbing, playing the classical guitar, and debating geopolitics 

  • Thomas Colagiuri

    PROJECT LEAD

    Thomas is a fourth-year BA/MA with the MAPSS program in economics at the University of Chicago. He has gained experience working on economics research teams in both academia and the private sector. His research interests are experimental economics, econometrics, and optimal policy design/implementation. In his free time, he enjoys reading fantasy, playing card games, and engaging in any form of debate.
