  • Evan Huang

    CO-PRESIDENT

    Evan is a senior in Winthrop House from Dallas, Texas studying economics. He is interested in urban economics and behavioral finance, and has previously conducted research in both fields. In his free time, he enjoys reading architecture books and boxing.

  • Kaitlyn Ernst

    CO-PRESIDENT

    Kaitlyn Ernst is a junior at Harvard College living in Lowell House! She is originally from Cleveland, Ohio. She plans on studying Applied Mathematics and Economics and is fascinated by the intersection of statistical analysis, computational problem-solving, and economic decision-making. In her spare time, you can find her rewatching her favorite '90s romcoms, running along the Charles River, and overpaying at local coffee shops.

    Michael is a junior at the College studying Economics and Mathematics, and enjoys playing tennis and dancing in his free time.

  • Sophia Lichterfeld

    CO-DIRECTOR OF RESEARCH

    Sophia is a junior at Harvard College studying Applied Math with a focus in Economics and a secondary in Global Health and Health Policy. She is originally from Massachusetts. Outside of CREL, she plays violin in Harvard MIHNUET, a chamber group that performs at nursing homes and hospitals, writes for the Science and Technology section of the Harvard Political Review, and is involved in policy research through the Institute of Politics. In her free time, she enjoys going on runs along the Charles river and trying out new cafes with friends.

  • Akilan Sankaran

    CO-DIRECTOR OF RESEARCH

    Akilan is a sophomore studying Chemistry/Physics and Mathematics, with a secondary in Economics; he is originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico. Akilan’s research centers on multi-scale computational research of materials and chemical processes, and his economic interests currently lie in AI, trade, labor, and health economics. In his free time, you can find Akilan on a run on the Charles or tackling some Chopin on the piano.

  • Elias Tamer

    Elias Tamer is a junior in Cabot House studying Applied Mathematics and Economics with a secondary in Philosophy. He is from Lexington, Massachusetts. In his free time he enjoys hiking and listening to rock music.

  • Garvin Kim

    CO-DIRECTOR OF RESEARCH

    Garvin is a junior from Seoul, South Korea studying Applied Mathematics/Economics with a secondary in Film/Video. She is interested in how data can be used to solve economic problems, specifically in education and development. On campus, she is involved in dance groups and in various productions as a videographer.

  • Eliza Glaeser

    Eliza is a junior in Lowell House from Weston, Massachusetts. She is studying Economics with a secondary in History of Art and Architecture and is particularly interested in development and urban economics. In her free time, Eliza likes to unwind by reading and creating art.

    Chase is a sophomore at Harvard College from Southern California. He is studying Neuroscience with a secondary in Economics and is interested in global health and the intersection of AI and cognition. In his free time, you'll find him playing basketball or practicing dovetails in the Harvard woodshop.

  • Sasha (Aleksandr) Popov

    President

    Aleksandr is a third year at the University of Chicago studying Economics and Mathematics, with a minor in Computer Science. His past experiences range from algorithmic trading research to working in a VC fund and founding his own startup. His research interests include development economics and monetary policy. Outside of CREL, Aleksandr enjoys mountain climbing, playing the classical guitar, and debating geopolitics 

  • Ria Dhillon

    Director of Operations

    Ria is a third-year at the University of Chicago from San Francisco, California studying economics and data science. She has worked as a research assistant for the Roman Family Center for Decision Research at the Booth School of Business. In her free time, she enjoys trying new restaurants, attending concerts, and watching college basketball.

  • Thomas Colagiuri

    PROJECT LEAD

    Thomas is a fourth-year BA/MA with the MAPSS program in economics at the University of Chicago. He has gained experience working on economics research teams in both academia and the private sector. His research interests are experimental economics, econometrics, and optimal policy design/implementation. In his free time, he enjoys reading fantasy, playing card games, and engaging in any form of debate.

    Anthony Chu is a senior at Stanford studying Economics and Computer Science. In the past, he has been involved in NLP and Computer Vision research. In his free time, Anthony enjoys skiing, rock climbing, playing tennis and watching Formula One.

London School of Economics

  • Tianhao Wu

    FOUNDER

    Tianhao is a third-year BSc Economic History and Geography student at the London School of Economics. In the 2025-2026 academic year, he visited Harvard College. His academic interests lie at the intersection of economics, public policy, and public administration, with a particular focus on development, energy, and the political economy in China and East Asia. In his free time, Tianhao enjoys skiing and hiking.

  • Zhikai Wang

    CO-FOUNDER

    Zhikai Wang is a first-year student studying Mathematics and Economics at the London School of Economics. Zhikai’s research interests lie broadly in monetary economics, political economy, government credibility, and financial econometrics. He is particularly drawn to comparative analysis across examining how different economies perform within shared fiscal and monetary frameworks. Outside of academia, Zhikai is an avid parkrunner — feel free to say hello if you happen to spot him on a stroll through Hyde Park (London, not the UChicago one).

  • Terrence Wang

    CO-FOUNDER

    Terrence is a PhD student in Health Policy and Health Economics at the London School of Economics. His research interests include applied microeconomics, health economics, health behaviors, healthy aging, and human capital. Outside academia, he is involved in innovation and entrepreneurship activities through London PhD Club, where he helps organize events focused on entrepreneurship, talent connection, and community exchange.

  • Quincy Tan

    CO-FOUNDER

    Quincy is a BSc Economics in second year with an interest in monetary economics, financial markets, and applied econometrics. She previously interned at the central bank of Malaysia, and has organised research initiatives in various student organisations. You can find her running, hiking, or solving crossword puzzles in her free time.
