World Bank: Green Public Procurement Policies

We collaborated with the World Bank to assess how Chile’s green public procurement directives affect carbon emissions and purchasing efficiency. Using government transaction data and environmental indicators, we developed a framework that estimates emissions and measures procurement inefficiency through price dispersion. Our analysis combines input-output modeling with product-level comparisons of lighting and vehicles to evaluate the environmental and economic effects of sustainable purchasing. Preliminary results suggest that the directives increased green purchases while reducing price variation, offering policymakers a foundation for evaluating procurement reforms elsewhere.
